Mrs. Kate Balk, 80, Muskegon Resident For 78 Years, Dies

Mrs. Kate Balk, 80 years old, a resident here 78 years, died today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bert Wieten, 1380 E. Giles road. Mrs. Balk was born in Chicago July 18, 1868, coming to Muskegon when she was two years old. The former Kate DeWilder, she was married to Jacob Balk here Feb. 14, 1898. Her husband died Feb. 16, 1931. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed church and also attended meetings at the Gospel hall on Apple avenue.

Mrs. Balk leaves a son, Fred; two daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Boden and Mrs. Bert Wieten, all of Muskegon; a brother, Evert DeWilder of Ravenna; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The service will be held at 1:30 p. m. Saturday at the Clock Chapel, with Mr. A. H. Hartsema officiating. Interment in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the Clock Funeral Home until Friday morning, then at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henrietta Boden, 881 Ada Ave.
