Dayton - Cheryl Ashley, 51, passed away peacefully in her home in Dayton on Thursday morning, July 11.
At her side were her husband, sons, grandchildren, and friends, who are a testament to her strength, faith, and love.
She was born in Bradenton, Florida, the daughter of Leland Johnson and Jeane Klug. She moved with her family to Oregon as a little girl and was raised and educated in Newberg. She married Timothy R. Ashley on February 13th, 1970, and settled in Dayton to raise a family.
She was a passionate teacher, skilled seamstress and phenomenal cook. She loved working on crafts and gardening and had a passion for tradition and family. She worked full-time taking care of her home and family and as an administrative assistant to Ashley's Construction, their family business. She was a member of the Dayton Christian Church and served as Sunday school teacher as well as a volunteer for vacation bible school. Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother and loving ‘Nana' to all her grandchildren. She touched the lives of many people through her tremendous faith in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leland Johnson, and her younger brother, Leland Johnson, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Tim, five sons, Keith, Nathan, Jason, John and Timothy Jr. of Dayton, her parents Ken and Jean Klug of Lafayette, a brother David Johnson of Rock City Falls, NY, two sisters Sue Payne of Newberg and Alison Bragden of Salem, and eight grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Dayton Christian Church on Monday, July 15, at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Yamhill/Carlton Pioneer Cemetery. Burial arrangements are by Macy and Son Funeral Directors in McMinnville.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Dayton Christian Church, 302 Fifth St. Dayton, OR 97114.
