Lael served as a Private First Class, 330th Infantry, 83rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 20, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Waiter and also as Single, with dependents.

Lael was "Killed In Action" in Belgium during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Belgium and was later repatriated here on July 11, 1950.

Service # 11085693

He is interred with: Nowak, Theodore J F

The reason he is named on a group headstone is because when soldier's were killed in close proximity to each other they were unable, at that time, to identify them separately and interred their remains together in one grave.
