William traded one horse for a part of the 90 acre farm he owned. He raised fruits and vegetables and was known for his marketing of produce. He was recognized as a pioneer in the commercialization of paper shell pecans. His farm was located behind the Money Cemetery and ran along the south side of the Sabine River bottom, which is called the Kinser Community.
William was married four times. He married his first wife Sarah F. Crane on September 25, 1888, the mother of Carrie. He married his second wife Dora Crane on September 03, 1899, the mother of Clarence and Carl. He married his third wife Jenny V. Ard on May 15, 1910, the mother of Audra and William David (W.D.). He married his forth wife Mittie Hall on November 25, 1936. All his marriages took place in Hunt County, Texas
