HERBERT H. HANN 77 - of Somers Point, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5th, at home. Born in Philadelphia, he had lived in South Jersey for over 36 years. Herb enlisted in the Army in 1946 and was a very proud veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 7th Recon Company, attaining the rank of Sergeant, he was in combat from 1950 to 51, including action at the Chosin Reservoir. Herb was a member of Local Union #98 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 20 years. Moving from Philadelphia to Estell Manor, he was a volunteer with the Estell Manor Fire Company and served a term on the Estell Manor City Council. Always a proud Patriot, Herb was the Senior Vice Commander at VFW Post 220 of Mays Landing, a member of the Korean War Veterans, the Chosin Few, the Vietnam Veterans of America, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, a volunteer at the Veterans Center in Ventnor, and a charter member of the Colonel Louis R. Francine Camp #7, and the Pvt. Meredith Pool Camp #1505 Sons of Confederate Veterans. A life long boating enthusiast, he enjoyed sailing with his friends at Forked River where his boat was kept.

Herb leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Effie of Mays Landing, his five children; David and his wife Kelly of Hammonton, Scott and his wife Marjorie of Mays Landing, Denise Hann of Somers Point, Michele Balesteri and her husband Mike of Mays Landing, and Tim and his wife Andrea of Hammonton, his brother Jack and his wife Naomi of Richboro, PA, his grandchildren, John, Thomas, Amanda, Mikey, Ariella, Matthew, and Daniel, and his step-grandchildren, Chris and Juan Jose. Known as the "Cookie Man", he will be sorely missed by his Canine pals. His overwhelming generosity, guidance, strength, sense of humor, and quiet selfless dignity, will be an example for all of us to emulate.
