When Forrest was seven he lost both his father and mother. Joseph died of a lung illness and his mother, 9 months later of a stroke. The three boys were separeted to live with their paternal uncles. Forrest was taken by his Uncle Frederick and raised with his family.
Forrest graduated from Scottsburg High School then attented Bluefield college. Upon graduation Forrest went on to Medical School.
He died of an unknown cause in Boston General Hospital at the age of 36. His brothers Thornton and Harold survived him.
