Andrew Blachly was head cashier of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Delta, Colorado. On September 7, 1893, the McCarty outlaw gang, a branch of Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch from Robber's Roost in NW Colorado, robbed the bank. Tom McCarty, his brother Bill and Bill's son Fred entered the bank and announced the holdup. Blachly immediately yelled to give the alarm at the same time he attempted to grab a gun from his desk drawer. Fred McCarty shot him dead. Blachly left his wife Mary and eight children when he died.
