Alvis E. Brown, 95 was born February 6, 1916 to Frank and Nora (Baugh) Brown in Clough Valley, Kansas. He passed away on December 26, 2011 at the Wray Community District Hospital in Wray, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado. Interment will be in the Clough Valley Cemetery in Clough Valley, Kansas. Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado was in charge of arrangements.

Alvis Edward Brown was born February 6, 1916 to Frank and Nora (Baugh) Brown in Cheyenne County Kansas. He passed away December 26, 2011 at the Wray Community District Hospital at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 20 days. Alvis was a farmer and rancher by heart. During his life he worked for farmers and ranchers around Nebraska and Colorado later moving to Wray working for Paul and Bill Groves for many years. He married Inez Hubert of McCook, Nebraska and to this union one son was born, Larry Lee of Brighton, Colorado. Later, he married Orpha (Howard) Eaks on April 13, 1973 and to this union brought her three daughters, Edie, Ellen, and Ruth.

After retiring from farming and ranching, Alvis and Orpha cleaned First National Bank for years, then retiring from that he took up lawn mowing and working for many people around Wray. He was also known for his beautiful garden and that earned him the nickname "Farmer Brown." After failing health he retired, but was able to live at home until a short time before he entered Hillcrest Care Center.

Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter-in-law, June, sisters, Eleanor Lush, Drussil Brough and husband, Cleo, Edith Owens and husband, Orval, Frances Boardman and husband, Don, brothers, Arthur and Lyle.

He is survived by wife, Orpha, son, Larry Lee, granddaughters, Amy and Nicole and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and P.J., step-daughters, Ruth Bullard of Herndon, KS, Edie Cumingham and husband, Jay of Tyler, TX, Ellen Foche and husband, Chuck of Ludell, KS, 9 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Bernice Roe and husband, Max of Caney, KS, Darlene Cumley, whom Alvis' folks raised, a special cousin, Stan Shafer and wife, Carol and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
