Macon Boy Killed
Floyd Francis Chastain, 9-years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chastain was almost instantly killed shortly after 5:30 Thursday afternoon at the corner of Rubey and Butler street while coasting when he collided with a truck driven by Walter Phipps.
The lad was coasting down Rubey street from the south and the truck was being driven east on Butler, according to witnesses. After the accident Mr. Phipps stated that he did not see the lad and did not know of the accident until after it had happened.
Medical aid was rushed to the lad but he died before doctors reached him. Br. T. F. Turner who was called announcing that death came from a fracture at the base of the skull.
other lads who were coasting were unable to describe the accident, it seeming that it all happened so fast that no one really know just what was going on.
