Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Sat. Apr. 5, 1930, p. 1. FARMER KICKED BY HORSE DIES OF HIS INJURY. Joseph B. Kohlman, 39, Of Empire Expires At Hospital After Accident Injuries sustained when he was kicked by a horse in a barn at his farm home in Empire at 4:30 p.m. Thursday proved fatal to Joseph B. Kohlman, 39, who died at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Agnes hospital. Mr. Kohlman was kicked in the chest and thrown 16 feet when he entered the stall to show the horse, which he had purchased only a month ago, to William Seibel, who was with him. Mr. Kohlman had been having difficulty in handling the horse and was endeavoring to show Mr. Seibel how the animal acted. Mr. Kohlman was born April 16, 1890, in Mt. Calvary. He was married Oct. 1, 1912 to Adwina Mertens, who, with two daughters, Dorothy and Genevieve survive. Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kohlman of this city and nine brothers and sisters, Albert of St. Cloud, Ferdinand of Milwaukee, August of Dotyville, Sister Mary Lucinda, a member of the Sisterhood of St. Agnes, at Altoona, Pa., Mrs. Arthur Kirchoff of Berlin, Mrs. George Birshoff (sic: Birschbach) of St. Joe, and Florian, Bernard and Mrs. Frank Parish of this city. The body was taken to the Geo. M. Dugan funeral home and at 11:00 a.m. today was taken to the home of Mr. Kohlman's parents, 26 North Marr street. Funeral services will be held from there at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's church. The Rev. Peter W. Gersbach will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery.

Funeral services for Joseph B. Kohlman, Jr., Empire farmer, who died from injuries sustained when he was kicked by a horse at his farm home, were held at 8:30 a.m. today from the residence of his parents on North Marr street, and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's church. The Rev. Peter W. Gersbach officiated. Burial was at Calvary cemetery. The funeral was one of the largest ever held at St. Mary's church, the edifice being taxed to its capacity. Many persons from the surrounding country were present. There was also an unusually large floral offering. Pallbearers were six brothers-in-law of Mr. Kohlman, John Kiersten, Jacob Mertens, Fred Mertens, George Birschbach, Arthur Kirchhoff and William Seibel. Among those from away present at the services were Mr. and Mrs. George Birschbach of St. Joe, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kirchhoff of Berlin, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mertens and family of Sherwood, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kohlman of St. Cloud, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Kohlman of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. August Kohlman of Dotyville, Mrs. Joseph Haensgen and family of Mt.
