John F. Wolfrey, 81, of Poolesville, MD died on October 13, 2013.
He was the husband of Catherine E. Wolfrey of 58 years.
Born on March 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Bert and Leonia Wolfrey.
John retired from the Montgomery County Board of Education, where he was a painter and crew chief and supervised the painting of many schools throughout the county. He enjoyed the friendship of all his fellow workers. John was known as "Mr. Fixit". He enjoyed plumbing, electrical, carpentry, auto repair and lawn maintenance. He loved sports (Redskins and Orioles), animals (his dogs Vaky and Shadie and cat Oliver) and music. John was a self-taught musician and could play the guitar, organ and harmonica.
John also served his country in the United States Army in the Anti-Aircraft Division.
Surviving besides his wife is his sister-in-law, Della Snodgrass, nieces and nephews; Nancy Elkins, Billy Wolfrey, Alysha and Sabrina Wolfrey, Bill McDonald, Marsha Meadows and Samatha McDonald.
John was preceded in death by four brothers, Reuben, Phillip, William and Elberton; three nephews, Robert (Bobby), Steve and David Wolfrey and two brother-in-laws, Marshall Woodard and Bobby Snodgrass.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday October 17 from 5-8 PM at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd. (Rt. 109), Barnesville, MD (hiltonfh.com). Interment will be private in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, MD.
