HAPPY - Loretta "Jelly" Dorris, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in Tucumcari, N.M.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Happy Church of Christ with Rick Bloodworth, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Dorris was born May 19, 1910, in Iowa Park, to Benton and Edith Fields. She and her husband, Frank, moved to the Panhandle from Iowa Park in the late 1930s and began farming. She continued farming after her husband's death in 1947 and had one of the first Angus herds in the Texas Panhandle. She enjoyed her outdoor life and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers, Bruce and Gene Fields.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Frost and husband, Bob, of San Jon, N.M.; two granddaughters, Robin Slutz and husband, James, of San Jon and Michelle Frost of Happy; three great-granddaughters, Shasta Slutz, JaTawn Slutz and Brittany Slutz, all of San Jon; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Fields of Canyon and Ruth Gard of Wichita Falls; two nephews, Vonnie Fields and wife, Ann, of Canyon and Jim Gard of Newalla, Okla.; two nieces, Dorris Gard and Dianne Gard, both of Fort Worth; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Happy Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 216, Happy, TX 79042; Church of Christ in Happy, P.O. Box 578, Happy, TX 79042; or Happy Days Association in care of First State Bank, 100 E. Main St., Happy, TX 79042.

The body will be available for viewing at Happy's Memorial Chapel.
