Manie Cooper Towson was the daughter of Reverend Willard E. Towson and Emily Hatton, Methodist Missionaries who spent many years in Japan in the late 1880's and through to 1946. Manie was the oldest of their three children and was born in California, a stopping point on their way to Japan.

Manie Towson grew up and never married. Instead she followed in the footsteps of her parents and became a Missionary to Japan as well.

She passed away in Hall County Georgia, not far from where one of her brothers is buried. However, like most of the Hatton/Towson family she was buried in the family plot at Lebanon, Tennessee.
