E. C. EVANS STONEWALL - Services for Emery Charles "Okie" Evans, 88, Stonewall, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be Monday, January 7, 2008 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, California. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Evans died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born June 19, 1919 in Prim, Arkansas to Walter Scott and Cynthia Anne Harris Evans. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He married Vonda Rogers in 1940 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She died in December 1993 in California.
Mr. Evans was a pipefitter and steamfitter for Local Union #250 until his retirement. He was a Baptist and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in California. Mr. Evans served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Ronold Evans and wife Judy, Kingman, Arizona, and Larry Don Evans and wife Carol, Harrison, Arkansas; two daughters, Charlotte Roberts, Stonewall, and Joyce Evans, Stonewall; grandchildren, Denise Meneses, Arthur Roberts, Harry Roberts, Kim Evans, Ronald Craig Evans, Sherry Viter, Lori Parker, and Charles Serpa; great-grandchildren, Crystal Meneses, John Meneses, James Meneses, Matthew and Jessica Roberts, Shaheen Roberts, Tina, Tony and Patty Fayler, Cynthia Evans, Nicholas Parker, and Rena Serpa; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
