Susan Elizabeth "Susie" Verner, was born in Franklin County, Georgia, and married John Wesley Addison (1859 – 1940) on Sep 4, 1879 in Franklin County, Georgia. Susie and Wes had eight known children: David Ellis, Wilburn Jackson, Dorsey Felton, Flora Elizabeth, George, Ora Lucy, Henry, and Cora Etta.

By 1910 Susie and Wess lived in Toccoa, Stephens County, Georgia and then in 1920 in Broad River, Stephens County, Georgia. This resulted from when Stephens County was formed in part from Franklin County in 1905. In 1930, Susie, age 72, and Wes, age 70, lived on a small farm in Militia District 76 of Jefferson County, Georgia, with their 25 year old daughter Cora.

Susie was widowed in 1940 after 61 years of marriage. She died May 14, 1947 in Franklin County, Georgia, and she was buried beside her husband in the Sunshine Methodist Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Georgia, where they share a headstone.
