Mrs. John Beal will be well remembered by the early residents of Dixon, although with her family she removed from this city some thirty years ago.
After an acute illness of some weeks from heart disease, she died at her home in Tama City, Iowa, on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, August 26th and was buried on Sunday the 28th.

Mrs. Beal, whose maiden name was Rebekah Uhl, was born 78 years ago in Somerset county, Pa., where she lived till some years after her marriage to John Beal.

In 1852 with their family they came west and settled in Lee county. Mrs. Beal was a woman very highly esteemed by all who knew her, and from early girlhood was a member of the Lutheran church, until since her removal west, when finding in Tama City no church of that denomination, she united with the Methodist connection in which she became quite active.

She leaves a husband over 80 years of age, and seven sons who are scattered through several states.
Horace, Ephraim, Charles, Newton, Lincoln, George and Clinton. Two sons Arthur and Thomas and an only daughter, Mrs. Jessie Hetler, died some years ago.

She also leaves one brother, Samuel Uhl, and two sisters, Mrs. Southwell of Burlington and Mrs. Harding of Dixon; the only survivors of her father's large family.
