Son of Nicholas Bonnemort & Mary Gill. Bonnemort enlisted when the Civil War broke out and he entered as a private in Company I, Thirty-Fifth Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. He took part in the battles of South Mountain, Vicksburg, Fredericksburg, Jackson of Mississippi, and other engagements. In June of 1865 he was discharged because of his injuries.
