Uncle Bill (as he was referred to by nieces and nephews) was very proud to have been a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Taft Volunteer Fire Department in Taft, Texas for many years before his family moved to Ingram. In Ingram, he was celebrated as a 30-year member of the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department having achieved the rank and respect of Lieutenant.

Mr. McDonald served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
