Major League Baseball Player. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was a leftfielder making his debut for the San Francisco Giants on June 22, 1958. For twelve seasons, he played with the San Francisco Giants (1958 to 1959, 1969), St. Louis Cardinals in 1960, Los Angeles Angels (1961 to 1963), Cleveland Indians (1964 to 1967) and Chicago White Sox in 1968. He was elected twice to the American League All-Star with the Los Angeles Angels in 1962 and 1963. He ended his career with a record of 1,202 hits, 636 runs scored, 211 home runs, 669 runs batted in and a .272 batting average.
