James Bernard Hines Jr., 76, a retired U.S. Army first sergeant, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2011. Funeral: Private in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Memorials: Should friends desire, the family requests you honor Jim's life by donating to the Gideons International. Jim was a loving husband and father.

He was a strong Christian man who served all he came in contact with. He loved his Heavenly Father and everyone he met saw the love of Christ in him. Jim served his country proudly for 21 years in the U.S. Army. Jesus said unto her, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live": John 11:25. Survivors: His loving wife of 50 years, Marsha Hines; daughter, Paige Tooker and spouse, Kenneth Tooker; grandchildren, T.J. Van Hoy and spouse, Brittany, Scott Tooker, Danielle Tooker, Rainey Tooker and Melissa Bertram and spouse, Justin; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Kayson, Tyler, Marcella, Charles Jayden and Alyzah; brothers, Jack Hines and spouse, Carolyn, and Robert Hines and spouse, Kay; sisters, Pat Stephens and spouse, Don, and Pam Terrell and spouse, Dennis.
