BARBARA K. (BROWN) FINLEY

DEATH OF MRS. FINLEY

The Grim Reaper has garnered to Himself one of Aspen's most estimable, charitable, and lovable of women, Mrs. Barbara K. Brown, wife of Stephen H. Finley.

Mrs. Finley breathed her last this morning at 2:45 o'clock after a prolonged illness. As the report of her death became current many were heart broken at the loss of a friend, for to know her was to love her. Always courteous to the high and kindly to those less fortunate in this world's goods, she endeared herself in the hearts of all alike. Indeed the loss is felt by all the community. To the bereaved husband, words fail inadequately to express the sympathy felt for him by all his friends and they are legion.

"The Lord has given; the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord."

Funeral services will be held from the home, corner Main and Third Street, at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Eitelgeorge officiating.

Mrs. Barbara K. Brown-Finley was born at Newcastle, N.B., Canada in September 1858, the second child to bless the union of George and Mary Brown. She was married to Stephen H. Finley when a young lady of 23 years, Sept. 23, 1881. The first six years of her wedded life were spent in her home town, coming to Aspen in 1887 with her husband. Three children blessed this union, two of them dying when quite small.

Deceased is survived by a loving and devoted husband one daughter, Mrs. Phillip P. Barber, now residing in New York City; two sisters, Mrs. James H. Devereux of New York City, who was present at the bedside while the angel of death hovered near, and Mrs. Myers Moss of Toronto, Canada; five brothers, D. R. C. Brown, G. B. Brown, L. A. W. Brown, Harry A. Brown, all of Aspen, and James M. Brown of Etzalan, Old Mexico
