Nancy E. Abercrombie, 85, resident of The Springs of Simpsonville Assisted Living, and formerly of 203 Ivy Street, died November 17, 2011 at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital.

Born in Simpsonville, she was the daughter of the late William Alex and Osa Brooks Abercrombie. She was also predeceased by a sister, Mamie Abercrombie.

She was a graduate of Furman University's Women's College. She was an Army Veteran and worked as a clerk/typist during the Korean War. She retired from the Greenville County Department of Social Services.

She was a member of the Buncombe Street United Methodist Church and active in many circles. Mrs. Abercrombie was also involved in United Methodist Denominational endeavors.

A memorial service was held at The Springs where she lived and received truly loving care from the staff. A private burial will be held at Bethel UMC Cemetery. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Published in The Greenville News on December 11, 2011
