John B. Volk "Johnny V" died on Monday, December 26, 2011 at his home in Boise, Idaho. Johnny V was born in Mt Home AFB, Idaho on February 5, 1958, the only son of five children of John H. and Virginia "Ginger" Volk. He graduated from Boise High School, and played Varsity baseball all throughout high school. He had dreams of playing professional baseball and did play baseball in college. He continued to play ball throughout his life.

Johnny always loved sports and continued to play ball, and later he became a referee of many sports including softball, basketball, volleyball, and flag football. He was loyal to the Oakland Raiders, enjoyed the BSU Broncos and cherished spending time with all his nieces and nephews. He had a very successful career in the beer/wine distributing business, and most recently was very happily working for Jackson Food Stores and continuing his passion for refereeing.

He married the love of his life, Cindy Volk on July 27, 1985. They had a beautiful son, J. Brady Volk, on June 16, 1986 and they lived in Boise and Meridian Idaho. Although they divorced May 1993, Cindy and Johnny V remained very close friends. He was survived by his father, John H. Volk, and his four sisters, Gina Nutt (Rick), Teri Hawk (John), Pamela Jayo (Jeff), and Rhonda Stapleton (Jeff), and all his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his remarkable Mother, Ginger Volk, and his beloved son, Brady Volk.

The services will be Friday, December 30, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646. A reception to celebrate his life will follow at Leku Ona, 6th & Gove, downtown Boise. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Basque Museum, 611 Grove St, Boise, ID 83702.
