Jerry Blain Madsen, after successfully battling diabetes for fifty years, passed away from heart failure on December 26, 2011.

Born November 8, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Sally Mines Madsen; his children Cindy Nigbur (Ken), Lance Madsen (Coleen), Hollie Sprunt (Matt), Jennifer Nielson (Jason), Brook Madsen (Jessica), and Rod Madsen (Jessica); and twenty-three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter Lori and his parents Blain and Miriam Madsen.

He was a devoted husband and father, who was involved in all of his children's activities, including coaching his sons for eighteen years. He retired from Intermountain Health Care after forty years of service.

He held various callings in the LDS Church, particularly enjoying his association with the youth. He and his wife served a full time mission in the Los Angeles Family History Center. His presence will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 in the Cobble Creek First Ward Chapel, 8030 South 5140 West. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10550 South), and Friday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment: Murray City Cemetary.
