Violet B. Fitzgerald, 73, of Cambridge, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Chesapeake Woods Center.

She was born in Cambridge on August 13, 1938. She was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Jones Bennett.

She was raised in the Neck District area. She attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School.

On November 23, 1956 she married Bobby Fitzgerald. He passed away on June 3, 2008.

Mrs. Fitzgerald worked for several sewing factories, and later worked at Airpax and retired in 2000.

She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, helping the Cambridge Jaycee delivering meals on wheels and going out to Chesapeake Woods Center to visit some of the patients. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a prior member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Women of the Moose.

She is survived by three daughters Bobbie K. Ewing and husband Jim of Kent Island, Sandy L. McCollister and husband Ron of East New Market and Joy Robbins of Cambridge, four grandchildren Missy Wilson and husband J.R., Ryan McCollister and wife Amanda, Rachel Robbins and Erin Robbins, a great granddaughter Megan Wilson, an aunt Anne Brooks of Woolford and several cousins.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011at 2 pm at East New Market Cemetery with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
