In 1884 she came to Minnesota in Conestager Wagon. She moved with her family to Blue Earth, Faribault County, Minnesota, in a covered wagon. The story goes that some indians saw her daughter Laura Lucretia Dockham's pretty blonde hair and wanted to take her, but her mother, Harriet, offered them a pie instead and they took that and were satisfied.

"Mrs. Harriet E. Dockham, familiarly known as "Grandma "Dockham" died at the home of her son A. T. Dockham, near Eagle Bend December 16th, 1923, after a brief illness. Up to a few days before her death she had seemed to be in good health, but it was found that she had hardening of the arteries.
Harriet E. Tenny was born May 14th, 1840, at Binghamton, N.Y. At the age of 17 she came to Wisconsin, whither the family had proceeded her. In 1859 she was united in marriage with Charles Dockham. Six children were born to them, three sons and three daughters. Two sons and one daughter survive her. The are M. G. Dockham of Sacramento, Cal., Mrs. W. M. Foster of Riverside, Cal., and A. T. Dockham of Eagle Bend, Minnesota. She also leaves one sister and one brother, Mrs. M. C. Zoller of Saskatoon, Canada; adn [sic] Edward Tenny of Rochester, Minn.
Fifty-eight years ago Sister Dockham embraced the Seventh-day Adventist faith. She has thus witnessed the growth of this Message for considerably over half a centruy, and as one of its faithful pilgrims has fallen asleep to await the glorious consumation when the Saviour comes.
The funeral service was held in the Drywood Church, and words of comfort were spoken, based upon John 17:24 "Father, I will that they also whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am."

Buried at Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Leslie Township, Todd County, Minnesota.
West of Clotho. NE of Osakis or Carlos. Cemetery is on the way to Alexandria and take a side road.
20 minute drive from her home. Road goes to Osaka (town by a big lake) if you were to keep going on it.
Charles Frederick Dockham & Harriet Elizabeth Tenney (Dockham) are buried there by a big cross at cemetery. They share the oldest gravestone in the cemetery. It's in the country on a hill surrounded by pine trees.
His joint upright grave marker states, "CHAS. F. DOCKHAM, CO. E, 49 WIS. INF., AND, HARRIET E., DOCKHAM, 1840 - 1923."

NOTE: There are several Century Bears that were made from a quilt that was deteriorating because it was made prior to 1900 by Harriet Tenney Dockham. Dolly Krohne (Weible) made the old quilt into bears in November 1999. Her siblings each have one, except Ken who was deceased so his daughter Julie received it.
