Mary E. McRae, 86, of China Spring passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at a Waco hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Wortham Bend. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery. The family will be present for a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian.
Mrs. McRae was born Oct. 18, 1916 in Patton, Texas and attended school in Valley Mills. In 1933, she married Emory McRae in China Spring. She had lived all her life in the Patton, Wortham Bend and China Spring area. For more than 20 years she worked as a cook for the China Spring ISD until retiring in 1994. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1995.
Survivors include her daughter, Dian Mirick of Waco; sons, Ervin McRae and wife Linda of China Spring and Albert "Sonny" McRae and wife Marilyn of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Wagner of Burleson; brothers, L.D. Alexander and wife Carlene of Meridian, and Clovis Alexander and wife Norita of Monroe, LA; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and host of friends.
