Charles D. Porteous, 88, of Round Lake, Illinois died Tuesday December 8, 1987 at Royal Terrace Nursing Home, McHenry following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Libertyville on March 4, 1899 and has remained a lifelong resident at his home in Round Lake for the past 40 years. He is member of the Automobile Mechanics Union and also of the Round Lake Senior Citizens Club. He was an auto mechanic by trade for over 22 years, retiring in 1964.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor (Sturm) Porteous; 1 daughter Patricia (Gene) Piwowarczyk; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers; a son, Gordon C.; and a daughter, Ellen Mae Schaffer.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Thursday, December 10, 1987 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake with Rev. Lisle J. Kauffman, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Round Lake officiating. Interment will be at Fort Hill Cemetery, west of Round Lake. Friends may call at the chapel 5 until 9 p.m., Wednesday.
