Mary Jean Jackson Abshier, 83 of Anahuac passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Anahauc under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahauc. Interment will follow in Jackson Cemetery in Double Bayou. A gathering of Mary's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the funeral home.
Mary was a retired Librarian for Anahuac ISD. She was a member of First Untied Methodist Church of Anahuac. She loved feeding animals, raising flowers and being with her family. She was a member of the Daughter Republic of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Burt Jackson Sr and wife, Jammie Louise Carr Jackson; grandson, Joshua Cooley.
Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fred Abshire; daughters, Jean Abshire Forrest and husband Randy, Louise Pierson and husband, Windell, and Pat Cooley and husband, Mike; granddaughter, Kristin Payne and husband Clayton; grandson, Justin Cooley; great grandson, Bransen Payne and a host of other family and friends.
