Mr. Charles Wesley Mitchell, 81, of Edgewater, MD went to be with his Lord on October 17, 1999 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, MD.

He was born in Virginia, son of the late DeWitt Talmadge Mitchell and Bessie Pritchett Mitchell.

During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force as a mechanic. After the war, he owned and operated an Amoco Service Station in Chevy Chase, MD for nearly 30 years.

Along with his family, he enjoyed spending every weekend, for 17 years, at their beach cottage in North Beach, MD. His interest were fishing, crabbing, gardening, sports and spending time on his boat "Nauti Peg".

He was a member of American Legion Post of 226 Mayo, MD.

He was married to Peggy Lorraine Stroud Mitchell, who met her Lord in 1985.

Survivors are his wife Ida Simpson Mitchell, whom he married in 1986, two stepsons Kenneth Simpson of Colorado and Robert Simpson of Manchester in Carroll County, MD, two daughters Susan Louise Daugherty of Littleton, NC and Carol Lynn Tigert of Rockville, MD, two brothers Clarence Morris Mitchell and John Sanford Mitchell, one sister Sarah Jordan and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at Davidsonville United Methodist Church. Interment was in Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.

Arrangements were by Hardesty Funeral Home.
