Carl Ludwig Abbe, familiarly known at Louie Abbe, died at his home just south of this village, Sunday, August 18th, after a long illness, aged 71 years, 11 months and 24 days.
The deceased was born in Meriden township on August 25, 1863, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Abbe, early residents of this community. He grew to manhood here and was united in marriage with Miss Katherine Buker of Woodville township, on July 4, 1888, the ceremony taking place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church south of Meriden. Mr. Abbe was a successful farmer, an excellent neighbor and a good friend and will be greatly missed by all who know him.
Besides his widow the deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Lizzie Abbe, Alvin Abbe, Mrs. Anna Schroeder and Arthur Abbe. Two children died in infancy. Besides his immediate family he is survived by 16 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Brase of Meriden. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
