Fred Cox Brigman, Jr., died Wednesday in Fredericksburg. He was born in Uvalde, Texas on January 27, 1923, the eldest son of Fred Cox Brigman and Beatrice Turman Brigman. He was raised on the family ranch in Uvalde County. Until the age of twelve, he rode his horse to attend a one-room school for the ranching community. In 1942, at 19, he graduated from Southwestern University, where he was president of Kappa Alpha Order. He immediately joined the United States Army. He was an expert marksman who served as a ballistic instructor for the duration of World War II. Later, at the end of the war, he served in the Philippines. In 1946, he returned and entered law school at the University of Texas. He was a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Board of Chancellors. He graduated in 1949 with highest honors. In the same year, he married Mary Marshall Blanchard of Troup, Texas, to whom he was devoted. He was county attorney of Uvalde before moving to Houston in 1956 where he practiced law. In 1970, he moved to Boulder, Colorado where he was general counsel for a corporation. Wanting to be near his children and grandchildren, in 1996, he moved to San Angelo, Texas. He loved the law and continued to practice law part time until ill health forced his retirement and moved to Kerrville and later Fredericksburg.
He is survived by his three children, their spouses, grandchildren, and two brothers: daughter, Kathy Northington and son-in-law, Tom Northington of Kerrville; daughter, Sara Brigman of San Antonio; and son, Fred Brigman, III and daughter-in-law, Jane of San Angelo; three grandchildren, David Northington of Kerrville, Calvin Brigman and Sarah Jane Brigman of San Angelo; brothers, Dr. George H. Brigman of Richmond and John T. Brigman of Uvalde. His dear wife, Mary, preceded him in death by twenty five years. His sharp wit and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 18, 2011, 2 PM at Kerrville Bible Church, 898 Harper Road.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Boulder, Colorado on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Bible Study Fellowship International where he came to faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, www.bsfinternational.org.
