On Saturday, October 10, 1987, a Citizen of the Republic of Texas a grave Medallion was dedicated in honor of Jean Nicolas Pichot at the St Louis Cemetery in Castroville. The medallions are placed on graves of persons who were in Texas during the time it was a republic, 1836-1845 by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Pichot came from Milly, Meuse, France in 1843, with his father and two sisters they were on the first ship, El'Ebro, to bring colonists to settle Henri Castro's Colony.

Baytown's Solomon Barrow Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas sponsored the dedication. Approximately 75 relatives and guests attended the service.
The program began with welcome by Mrs. Eva Pichot Smith of Baytown, an invoation was said by Rev. John Klak from St Louis Catholic church, the pledge to the US Flag was by C. J. Pichot and pledge of the Texas flag was by Mrs. Dorothy Carter both of Hondo.

Tom Pichot of Laredo read a poem "Heritage" by Louis Martinet, Mrs. LaNell King spoke on the involvement of the DRT with dedicating grave medallions. A special tribute to Jean Nicolas Pichot was given by Mrs. Smith then a call remembrance was given by Mrs Lucille Pichot Tomerlin of Hondo. the dedication and unveiling of the marker was done by Mr George Albert Pichot of Baytown and Mrs. Nettie Pichot Koch of Hondo presented the floral tribute. Rev. KLak concluded the program with the Lords Prayer and reception followed at the Alsatian Inn.
