Obit - George Jackson Washington, 81, died at his residence at 307 Royal Street at 10:25 a.m. Saturday. (1953) Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Saxon-Boze- Mitchell funeral home chapel with Rev. T. Hollis Elton , pastor of the First Baptist church , officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Peak cemetery. The body will lie in state until the service occurs.
Mr. Washington was born on Aug 4, 1872, at Springfield Ala. He came to Texas at the age of Texas at the age of 14 and farmed in the Maypearl community since 1916. He was married to Miss Christine Elizabeth Brickey on June 17, 1923, at Roanoke, Va. Mr. Washington retired from farming 13 years ago and moved to Waxahachie.
Survivors include his widow of Waxahachie; five sons, Jack, Roy, Russel, Lawrence and Claud, all of Waxahachie; four daughters, Mrs. Berthel Womack of Houston, Mrs. Cora Womack of Naples, Mrs. Bessie Warren of Fort Worth and Mrs. Hazel Stanley of Cleburne; 36 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
