Jay E. "Bob" Marks, 81, formerly of Weedsport,died Wednesday at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center, Auburn.

He was born in Jordan. He retired in 1981 after 21 years with the state Department of Transportation. He was a member of Cato Masonic Lodge, the Civil Service Employees Association and First Baptist Church, Jordan, and the Disabled American Veterans, Auburn. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart.

His wife, Edna L., died in 2000.

Survivors: A daughter, Brenda A. Carpenter of Los Angeles; two sons, Jay E. Marks Jr. and Walter H. Sayre Jr., both of Weedsport; three sisters, Pearl McIntyre of Sennett, Mary Marks of Jordan and Florence Carpenter of Fairport; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Jordan. Burial, Weedsport Rural Cemetery. No calling hours. B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, Jordan, has arrangements.
