John Russell Parks, the son of Russell and Mary (Farrar) Parks, was born at Glenvil, Nebraska, on December 16, 1906, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 10, 1984, at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 24 days.

John grew up in Glenvil and attended grade school there. In 1925 he moved to Giltner and lived there the rest of his life.

On September 11, 1939 he was united in marriage to Frances Virginia Hielen at Grand Island, Nebraska.

John worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad from 1939 to 1966.

He was a member of the Giltner Fire Department for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 sisters, Elviera Parks, Adeline Mohlman and Katherine Mohlman; and 3 brothers, George and Tillman Parks.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son, Paul Parks of Aurora; daughter Mary Williamson of DeRidder, Louisiana; sister, Pearl Holtz of Beaver City, Nebraska and 10 grandchildren.
