Son of Hon George and Caroline Bowman Denison. Graduated with distinguished honors at Dickinson College, PA in 1840. Ordained deacon by Bishop Meade in July 1844, received his first ministries in Grenville and Pendleton, SC. Moved to Brandon Parish in Prince George County, VA, and then to Bruton Parish in Williamsburg where he was twice rector. There he was elected as assistant to Rev Dr Stone at Christ Church Brooklyn. While there he married Alice, daughter of President John Tyler. In the fall of 1853 he accepted rectorship in St Paul's Church in Louisville, KY. Alice died while they were there. Afterwards, in 1857, he removed to Charleston, SC where he accepted rectorship at St Peter's Church and was there until he died. He died of the prevailing epidemic, which was the flu.
