Sara "Sadie" was the 9th child of 11 born to John Mouton and Margaret Chissom Louttit (both born in England). She was sister to: James, Mary, John Mouton, Jr., Jane, William, Margaret, Barbara, Isabelle, Eliza, and Annie.

On 25 April 1887, she married George Stark and together they had the following children: Luella, Margaret, Mary "Mame", Agnes, Jean Olive, Sara Mildred, Lois Eleanor, Harry, and Clarence George. According to the 1900 Federal Census, she and her family were living in Monongahela, Washington County, Pennsylvania. They moved to Washington Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania...near Fayette City in 1907 and lived out the rest of their lives here.
