Ruth Anna Lougee Couse, near midnight Sunday Oct. 4, 2009, died peacefully at her daughter's garden cottage in Corpus Christi, Texas, with her daughter Gail and her friend and Hospice social worker, Ben Campbell, in attendance.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Charlie's Place at 5501 IH 37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78408.
Ruth was born in Mitchell on Oct. 29, 1932, where she graduated from Morrill High School in Morrill, and from Cosmetology College in Hastings. She married Gary Duane Couse Oct. 10, 1952, where they made their home in Scottsbluff. Ruth moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1989, and was an active member and sponsor with Alcoholics Anonymous where Ruth celebrated her 26th sobriety birthday on Aug 8, 2009. She attended the Community Bible Study. With her husband and children, Ruth enjoyed scuba diving, snowmobiling, water skiing, fishing, camping, and motorcycling.
Her final days were spent with the kind assistance of her Hospice providers from Odyssey HealthCare of Corpus Christi, and her daily caretakers from Legacy Home Health. She left peacefully, cherished by people she cared for and who loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Renee Ann Couse Foos of Nisland, S.D., and Gail Dannette Couse Dorn, of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, John David Foos (Eva) of Cody, Wyo., Bryce Ryan Foos of Nisland, S.D., and Jenelle Ann Foos Williams (Kenneth) of Elk Mountain, Wyo.; great-grandchild, Blake Norman Foos, and expectant granddaughter; sister, Alice Lorraine Lougee Hagemeyer and brother-in-law, Ted Hagemeyer of Silver Spring, MD.; niece, Noreen Hagemeyer Guzman and her husband Rafael, three children of Puerto Rico; nephews, David Hagemeyer of Hawaii, Darren Edwin Lougee of New York City, David Lee Lougee and wife Beth of Upton, Wyo., and their sons and grandchildren, and Michael Lougee and his wife Heidi, and their sons and daughter of Casper, Wyoming. Preceding her in death was her former husband, Gary Duane Couse; brother, Roy Edwin Lougee and his wife Vickie Tinsley of Torrington, Wyo.; parents, Homer Edwin Lougee and Anna Amelia Kraich Douglas Lougee; and son-in-law, Norman David Foos (Renee).
