William Roy Brady Sr., 87, of Pollard died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Piggott Community Hospital.
Born in Piggott, he was a member of New Home Baptist Church in Marmaduke. He pastored a number of churches in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Association, including New Home Missionary Baptist Church. He served the association as a clerk from 1955-1960 and as moderator from 1961-86.
He was a member of Piggott Masonic Lodge No. 545 where he served as chaplain for 35 years and was an honorary worshipful master of the lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Ruth Brady of the home; one son, William Roy Brady Jr. of Prong, La.; one daughter, Mary Lou Richardson of Corning; two sisters, Verna Smith of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Bessie Ridgeway of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one brother, Francis Brady of Piggott; five grandchildren, William Roy Brady III of Pineville, La., Beth Pittman of Carrollton, Texas, Sarah Richardson of Alexander, Dianna Richardson-Burdette of Corning and Laura Shipman of Jonesboro; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis T. and Mary Gossett Brady, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, with Mike Chadwick and Eddie Gene Wright officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard under the direction of Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Brady, Paul Pittman, Bobby Shipman Jr., Michael Burdette, Neil Brady and Meredith Brady.
Honorary pallbearers will include ministers and deacons of the Arkansas State Association of Missionary Baptist Churches and members of the Masonic lodge.
