He was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Remer, the son of Preston and Alice (Taylor) Maness. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School, and served in the Air Force. On Dec. 17, 1960, Clarence was united in marriage to Nancy Elizabeth Remington. He worked for Reserve Mining Company for 22 years as a production truck driver. Clarence was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Babbitt, and the Maki-Pinola American Legion Post 535 in Babbitt. He was an avid hunter and trapper, and his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Debi (Tom) Lesemann, Tom Bones Maness, Steven (Patty) Maness, Lisa (Thomas) Bissonette and Rick Maness; 13 grandchildren; one soon-to-be great-grandchild; sisters, Ruth Gildersleeve and Delores Maness; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy, who he lovingly devoted his life to until her death in 1992; a brother, Harold Maness; and a sister, Dorothy Allen.
Burial was at the Argo Cemetery in Babbitt.
