Mary E. (McCullough) Wardle, 90, of Marion, formerly of Omaha, Neb., died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Sippican Health Care Center. She was the widow of Ralph M. Wardle.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late John and Ethel M. (Turton) McCullough, she lived in Omaha for many years; she resided in Marion since 1980.

Mrs. Wardle graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and Radcliffe College.

She volunteered extensively in many civic affairs in the Omaha area. She was a docent at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

She was an avid reader and bridge player.

Survivors include a son, Nicholas P. Wardle, and his companion, Jeanne Teasdale, of Great Barrington; three daughters, Ruth Scott and her husband, David, of Princeton, N.J., Alison Basile and her husband, Pietro, of Siena, Italy, and Jean Wardle and her husband, Ray Mortenson, of New York; and three grandchildren, Cintra Scott, Rodman Scott and Bruno Basile.

Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church.
