Chris Jessie Yates, 59, died Saturday, Dec. 10 in Havasu Lake.

He was born April 16, 1952 to Edward and Buela Yates in Los Angeles. He lived in the San Bernardino area for 56 years and the last four years in Lake Havasu. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974. He retired from Toyota Pomona after 20 years as an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Veterans Golden Age Games.

Yates is survived by his daughter, April Yates of Fontana; brothers Dennis Yates of Chino, Alex Yates of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Rick Yates of Bakersfield; sisters Betty Madson of Bakersfield, Susan Dickey of Covina, and Berna McCauley of Hesperia; and his former wife Adrienne Yates of Fontana. He was preceded in death by his father LaVerne Yates, his mother Beulah Cline, brothers Donald and Robert Yates, and nephew Steven Yates.

A graveside service with honors will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 1 on Friday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. Dickey Mortuary, Fontana, was in charge of arrangements.
