ROBERT EUGENE WALKER, 61, With the beginning of a new day, Thursday, July 31, 1997, Robert Eugene Walker, 61, of Wysox RR 2 completed his journey and gently took his savior's hand to his new heavenly home. Bob was born on July 22, 1936, in Sayre. He was a son of Robert and Evelyn (Smith) Chilson and a foster son of Ira and Ruth Walker. He was a graduate of Rome High School Class of 1954, and on June 27, 1958, he married the former Stella Wilmot. He was a former employee of Stackmore, Owego, N.Y., and retired from Dresser-Rand in Painted Post, N.Y., in 1986 following 18 years of service. Bob was a very talented handyman and a very knowledgeable mechanic. He also enjoyed gardening and playing the organ. He especially loved to go bass fishing. Bob attended the United Methodist Church, Rome. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Stella; his sons and daughters-in-law, SMSgt. Curtis Newell and his wife, Tammy Walker, Maxwell AFB, Ala., SMSgt, Kevin Ira and his wife, Sandra Walker, Holloman AFB, N.M., SMSgt. (SELECT) Craig Eugene and his wife, Helen Walker, Cannon AFB, N.M., TSgt. Douglas Charles and his wife, Sylvia Walker, Scotts AFB, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Annette and Richard Lincoln, Watsontown, Pa.; five very special grandchildren, Kyle Robert Walker, Todd Alan Walker, Katie Lynn Walker, Cassandra Monique Walker, and Zachary Franz Walker; his foster mother, Ruth Walker, Bradford County Manor; and a very dear sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and John Richard Upham and family, Neath. The funeral service and a celebration of Bob's life will be held on Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at noon at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 Main St., Nichols, with the Rev. Bernie Kellogg, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Rome, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 10 until the time of the service at noon. Those who wish may remember the Untied Methodist Church, Rome, Pa. in loving memory of Robert Eugene Walker. –Towanda Daily Review.
