Mrs. Hubbard is Dead; Services on Wednesday
Funeral services for Jennie Sophia Hubbard, 82, well known Emmetsburg resident, will be held Wednesday afternoon with a prayer service at 1:30 at the Foy- Ellsworth Funeral home and at 2 o'clock in the First Methodist church. The Rev. Dr. Ernest F. Martin, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Avery Carpenter, Mallard; Gerald Vaughn, Glidden; and Arden V. Bauck, George Sewell, Charles Konsella, and John D. Hall.
Mrs. Hubbard was born March 15, 1875, at St. Peter, Minn. Her parents were Jens and Pauline Sophia Oson Thompson. She had lived here the past 55 years and before that lived in Minnesota. She married Harvey Hubbard April 5, 1898 at Estherville. Mr. Hubbard preceeded her in death Aug.30, 1938. She is survived by one son, Lyle C. Hubbard of Emmetsburg and one daughter, Mrs. Grace H. DeViney of Washington, D.C.
Other survivors are one grandson, Jack DeViney, and one great grandson, Mark DeViney, of Washington, D.C.; and many nieces and nephews, among them Mrs. Anna Hall of Emmetsburg.
Mrs. Hubbard hed been a member of the First Methodist church. She had been in ill health for several years and had been a patient in the local hospital since July 23, 1957, where she died Saturday, Feb. 22.
She had many good qualities and leaves many friends.
