The remains of Thomas N. Doel, formerly a resident of Napanoch, were brought to Ellenville on Saturday for interment in Fantinekill Cemetery. The remains were accompanied by Preston Doel, the youngest son of deceased, and a nephew, George S. Tompkins. Mr. Doel's death was quite sudden; he had not been feeling very well for a day or two, and lying on the bed, soon afterward passed away quietly.
The deceased man was 64 years of age, of English birth, the son of George Doel, a blacksmith, who built the shop and house at Napanoch so long known as Carrolls's, also several other houses in the village. Thomas N. Doel for some years carried on a foundry and machine shop diagonally across street from the Ver Nooy store, and built a residence near where the Higgins house stands.
He married Lucinda, daughter of Chas. Babcock, and had seven children, of whom we believe Preston, above mentioned, is the only survivor. He is engaged as an electrical machinist in New York.
Mr. Doel went cityward many years ago; his foundry at Astoria, L. I., was burned a dozen years ago, since which time he had not been engaged in business.
Mrs. Doel died more than ten years ago; two brothers of the deceased survive, William and Demmon, both in Kansas; also two sisters--Mrs. C. W. Tompkins, and Ida both of Brooklyn.
