Frank married Harriett Elizabeth "Hattie" Pate in Texas in 1918. They had several children and then divorced in late 1940. His children used the last name spelling of "Artice".
Frank then married Gertrude Oleafia "Gertie" Fortune in 1941 in Texas. They had children together also and then divorced. Their sons used the last name spelling of "Artis".
Frank apparently decided to start using the name "Frank George Artis" instead of "George Frank Artice" sometime in the late 1940's. (Though he did sign his WWI Draft Registration card as "Frank Artis" in 1917. In 1942 he signed his WWII Draft Registration card "George Frank Artis".)
He married for the last time to Nellie Delilah Reeves sometime prior to his death in 1965. They had no children together. Frank's headstone shows his name as "Frank G. Artis".
The obituary for Frank incorrectly shows his birth place as Bourbon (county), Kansas. However, his WWI & WWII Draft Registration cards show it to be in Coldwater, Comanche Co., Kansas. The surviving brother listed, Joe Harding was his half-brother.
