Benjamin Hoyt, from Massachusetts, came to Craftsbury in 1794, with his wife and two children.

The family was subsequently increased to thirteen children, many of whose descendants are living.

Wyman, the second child, born in 1789, had also a family of thirteen children, eight of whom are living. Job, the fourth child, was a leading member of the Methodist church, having held the office of steward over sixty years. All of his seven children are living.

The youngest, Charles C., served in Co. I, First Vt. Cav., and was a prisoner of war eight months. He occupies the old homestead.
