Death Sudden To Mrs. Marie Giles
DIES SATURDAY WHILE WORKING IN STORE AT LINCOLN;FUNERAL HERE

This community was greatly shocked by news of the sudden death of Mrs. Marie Giles, 47, who was stricken while working in a Havelock grocery store, Saturday afternoon.

Death was caused by a blood clot, according to doctors who performed an autopsy Sunday. Mrs. Giles had been in good health and her passing was a great shock to her family and friends. The Giles had been residents of Table Rock for seventeen years prior to moving to Lincoln last spring.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Table Rock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. a. C. Bates of Cortland in charge, and Rev. A. L. Embree of Columbus delivering a comforting message. Special music was sung by the Kotalik sisters. Pallbearers included Rudolph Karas, John Deubelbeiss, R. J. Senft, Marion Bonham, Paul Diehm, and Frank Sochor.

The Rebekah Lodge attended the last rites in a group, Mrs. Giles having been a member of the local lodge for many years.

Interment was made in the Pawnee City cemetery.

OBITUARY-

Mrs. Marie Hattie Giles, daughter of Guy L. and Hattie Goldsberry, was born at Stella, Nebraska, February 13, 1905, and died on March 1, 1952, at Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 47 years and 18 days.

The family went to Lincoln, where they resided four years, and in 1909 they established their residence at Peru, where Mrs. Giles spent most of her childhood. In 1920 the family moved to a farm home near Pawnee City, where Marie entered high school, graduating in 1924.

On July 3rd, 1924, she was united in marriage to Raymond Herbert Giles of Pawnee City. To this union two sons were born, Lavelle Eugene and Richard Herbert.

The family moved to table Rock in 1934 to engage in a General Merchandise business and later the Table Rock Electric Co. Through the years, Mrs. Giles was closely associated with her husband in the administration of the business. About a year ago, they sold their business interests here and the family moved to Lincoln.

Marie united with the Violet Methodist Church in Pawnee County in 1922, and was an active member until her death, transferring her membership to table Rock and to the Havelock Methodist Church. During her residence in table Rock she was an active member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service, and for years taught a class in the Children's Department of the Sunday School and was a regular attendant at the Worship services of the church.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Table Rock.

The witness of her christian faith was manifested in the spiritual grace of her personality, her loyal devotion in her home, her church and the welfare of her neighbors.

Preceding her in death was Lavelle, having lost his life in a bombing mission over Berlin on February 3, 1945.

Mrs. Giles leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Raymond and son, Richard of Lincoln,; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Guy L. Goldsberry of Pawnee City, Nebr.; one brother, George Goldsberry of Cheyenne, Wyoming; her mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh A. Giles of Pawnee City, Nebr.; a brother-in-law and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Giles of Boulder, Colo.; three nieces and two nephews. Many other relatives and a host of friends also mourn her passing.

"God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all of our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain.
Joy without sorrow. Peace without pain.
But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the laborer, light on the way.
Grace for the trials, help from above.
Unfailing sympathy, undying love."
