Frances was the oldest of thirteen children born to William Milton and Lorena Alice (Seawell) Kivett. She married Charles Wesley Ivey Sr. and they had nine children: Thedosia, Florence, Charles Wesley Jr., Sara Lorena, Adele, Doris, Francis Kivett, Billy Seawell and Harry.
